Latinoamérica Extendida: Europa

To cross the ocean to migrate.
The history of the world is the history of migration. The history of the names that have been given to those human groups on the move: settlers, migrants, refugees, colonizers, expatriates, diaspora.
We crossed the ocean to live among the "conquerors." In our program we have decided to talk about how and why we got here, and above all how we managed to stay, how and why we wanted to and were able to leave, or even, why were we forced to go.
The fluidity of borders and territories has come to moist our identity. We inhabit hybrid and fluid spaces of enunciation. Identity and nationality are equivalent and opposite at all times.
The "Latin American identity" from within "Europe" is lived between expanded networks, found families and embodied otherness.

As part of this first edition of the Encuentro CONTINUO L A T I D O AMERICANO DE PERFORMANCE 2020, the committee of what we call Latidoamérica Extendida: Europa (Latin America Extended: Europe) formed by Diana Soria Hernández, Guadalupe Aldrete and Marina Barsy Janer, invited Latin American artists living in Europe to propose video- and photo- works of performance which engage with the different characteristics of their experience as migrants.

The Encuentro CONTINUO L A T I D O AMERICANO DE PERFORMANCE 2020 is a collective and plural construction of synchronic autonomies which based its purpose on the legacy of multiple memories. Its intention is to sustain horizontal, non centralistic and collaborative forms of work. It is motivated by the wish of knowing and embracing the opinion of all colleagues and the aspiration to reflect on the performance discipline within our different contexts. Its mission is to potentiate and offer fluidity to the already created connections between colleagues and groups.

In this first edition the committees of 19 countries / regions and more than 100 artists come together to present live and recorded artworks and to discuss different issues common among them as well as local issues.

The Encuentro CONTINUO L A T I D O AMERICANO DE PERFORMANCE 2020 will be broadcasted internationally from November 13th to December 4th, 2020 in the international forum of the encounter.

Latidoamérica Extendida: Europa created a program build by three elements: a Selection of nineteen video and photo- artworks of performances, six short interviews, the so called "Cápsulas Trans- Oceánicas", in which six artists talk about their experiences in both sides of the ocean (in Spanish), and the virtual roundtable "Crianza Intercultural" where five artists talk about their experience in parenting within a multicultural context (in Spanish).

The artworks' selection of Latidoamérica Extendida: Europa as well as some other invited artworks from the other participating committees, will be also shown during December 2020 in different cultural spaces in Europe:
